Let time taken by train Mumbai to Patna = t

And

Distance between Mumbai and patna = d

So,

$65 = \frac{d}{t} \\ t = \frac{d}{65} ...............(i)$

And , As given On its return journey, it travels at the speed of 60 km/hr and takes 5 hr more than the onward journey. we get

$60 = \frac{d}{t + 5}$

Substitute value from equation 1 , we get

$= \frac{d}{ \frac{d}{65} + 5 } = 60 \\ = \frac{d}{ \frac{d + 325}{65} } = 60 \\ = \frac{65d}{d + 325} = 60 \\ = 65d = 60d + 19500 \\ = 5d = 19500 \\ = d = \frac{19500}{5} \\ = d = 3900$
