A train is travelling on a level track at a speed of 72 km/hr. It is pulled by an engine which exerts
a force of 1200 kgf. Calculate (i) the power of the engine in kilowatt and horse power
If the speed of train increases 1.5 times, then find the (ii) work done by the force (iii) time taken
in this change of speed (iv) distance travelled by the train during the time mentioned in part(iii).
(g=20N/kg).

Explanation:

(i)

p \: = fv \\ 12000 \times 20 \\ 24000w = p \\ p = 240kw

72km/h = 20 m/s
