Answer:

Since the first train has been travelling for 3 hours, we have the following equations:

d = 50t+3*50+150\\d = 60t

We want to know when they will be equal, so set these equal to each other:60t = 50t = 15010t = 150t=16

So 15 hours after the second train leaves, they will be at the same distance. This is at 8AM since the second train leaves at 5PM.

Given   : a train leaves at 2p.m. heading North at 50mph.

the next train leaves in 3 hours heading North at 60mph

To Find :   what time will they meet

Solution:

a train leaves at 2p.m. heading North at 50mph.

in 3 hrs time will be  5 pm

and distance covered by train = 50 * 3  = 150 miles

next train   heading North at 60mph

Hence relative speed =  60 - 50  = 10 mph

Distance to be covered = 150 miles

Times =  150 /10   = 15 hrs

15hrs from 5 PM

=> 8 AM next morning/day

Train will meet  8 AM next morning/day
