Let the trains meet 'x' hours after the start of second train
The first train has traveled x + 4 hrs 30 mins = x + 4 30/60 = x+ 9/2 hrs
(x + 9/2) * 40 = x * 64
40 x + 180 = 64 x
24 x = 180
x = 180/24 = 7 hrs 30 mins (after 12 noon)
Thus the trains meet at 7.30 p.m (evening)
Distance traveled = ( x + 9/2)* 40 = ( 7 1/2 + 9/2) * 40 = 12*40 = 480 kms
Thus the trains meet at 7.30 P.M after travelling 480 km.
Hope it helps.
