A train meets two accidents in it journey. First accident happen at 150 km from starting point which reduces train speed to 2/3 rd of original speed. Second accident happen 200 km from first accident, which reduces its speed to 1/3 of original speed. And train reaches the destination 9 hour late.Had both accident happened 50 km farther train would have reached 2 hour earlier than the last one. Find original speed

Answer:

25/7 kmph

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Let the speed of train be x
  • Let the distance after second crash be d
  • according to question we have,
  • (150/x+(200/(2x/3))+(d/(x/3)))-(200/x+(250/(2x/3))+((d-50)(x/3)))=7
  • 150/x+600/2x+3d/x-200/x-750/2x-3d/x+150/x=7
  • 100/x-150/2x=7
  • taking lcm,
  • 50/2x=7
  • 2x=50/7
  • x=25/7km per hour.
