Question:

A train moving with velocity of 54 km/hr accelerated so that its velocity becomes 72 km/h in15 seconds. Find the acceleration of the train.

Solution:

• Initial velocity (u) = 54 km/hr

=> 54 × \dfrac{5}{18}

=> 15 m/s

• Final velocity (v) = 72 km/hr

=> 72 × \dfrac{5}{18}

=> 20 m/s

• Time (t) = 15 sec

_________________ [ GIVEN ]

• We have to find the acceleration of the train.

_____________________________

v = u + at

(First Law Of Motion)

Put the known values in above formula

=> 20 = 15 + a(15)

=> 20 - 15 = 15a

=> 5 = 15a

=> a = 5/15

=> a = 1/3

=> a = 0.33 m/s²

_____________________________

0.33 m/s² is the acceleration of the train.
