Hey,

Let suppose the pole as a point, and the length of the train is 100m as given, and we know that it crosses that pole in 10s.

• The formula to calculate velocity is = distance/time

(v = d/t) -> v - velocity, d - distance, t - time

• distance=100m, time=10s

• Velocity = 100/10 = 10m/s

• or 10×18/5 = 36km/h

Hope it helps you to understand this :)
