A train of mass 16,800 kg is pulled by its locomotive with a force of 10,000 N and is speed increases from 10 m/s to 12 m/s in a distance of 50 m. Calculate the resisting force assumed constant for that distance.​​

We know that force is,

Force=Mass*Acceleration

F =m*a------(1) Let's keep this aside for some time.

We have the mass, let us find the acceleration.

Given

Initial speed=10m/s=u.

Final speed=12m/s=v.

Distance=50m=s.

Using v²-u²=2as.

 (12)²-(10)²=2a50

144-100=100a

a=44/100

a=0.44m/s.

Substituting a in (1)

F =16800*0.44

=7392 N.
