A train passes a standing man in 3 seconds and a platform 105 m long in 8 seconds. Find the length of the train and its speed.​

To pass the standing man, train travels the distance equal to its length.

l = v × t

l = 3v

To pass the platform, train travels the distance equal to its length plus platform.

l + 105 = v × t'

l + 105 = 8v

3v + 105 = 8v

5v = 105

v = 105 / 5

v = 21 m/s

To calculate l,

l = 3v

l = 3 × 21

l = 63 m

Therefore, length of the train is 63 m and velocity is 21 m/s.
