QUESTION --- A train passes a station platform in 42 sec and a man standing on the platform in 20 sec. if speed of the train is 60m/sec. what is the length of the platform

ANSWER -----

To find the Length of the train,
Length of man is negligible

Speed = 60 m/sec
Time = 20 sec
Distance covered in this case will be equal to length of the train because the train will cover its own length since length of man is negligible

Distance = Speed × Time
60 × 20
=> 1200 m

==================================

For finding length of platform,

Speed = 60 m/sec
Time = 42 sec

Distance covered in this case wil be equal to (length of train + length of platform) since the train will cover its length along with length of platform

Let the length of platform be x

Distance = Speed × Time
1200 + x = 60 × 42

1200 + x = 2520

x = 2520 - 1200

x = 1320 m
