A train runs once a week from Delhi to Mumbai and back. It started from Delhi at 9.00 PM on the 16thMay and returned after completing the to and fro journey in a total of 52 Hours. What was the date and time when the train returned to Delhi after its Journey?

According to the question train runs from Delhi to Mumbai and back once a week.

The train started = May 16 = Date

The train started = 9 pm= Time

Total time completed by train after its journey = 52 hours

We have to find the date and time at which the train returned to Delhi after its journey.

The train completed its total journey and is now at Delhi after 52 hours.

2 days = 2×24 =$48$ $hrs$

3 days = 3×24= $72$ $hours$ (it is not possible because the train took only 52 hours. )

But 52 hours = $48 hrs$+ 4 hrs 4 hours = $4 hrs more than 2 days,$

That means the train completes its journey in 2 days and 4 hours.

The train started on May 16. and after 2 days and 4 hours it reaches back Delhi on May 19.The train completes 2 days of journey and enters the third day for 4 hours more to reach Delhi.

Therefore the train will reach Delhi back by 1 AM because 48 hours after 9PM will be the exact time,  Then 4 hours after 9PM is obtained by adding 4 hours to 9PM it will result in 1 AM, that means the next day has started.

So, the train will reach Delhi on May 19 at 1 AM.

∴The date and time when the train returned to Delhi after its journey will be May 19 at 1 AM.
