Answer :

Initial velocity = zero

Final velocity = 40 km/h

Time of journey = 1 minute

We have to find acceleration of the train.

★ Acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity.

Mathematically, a = v - u / t

  • a denotes acceleration
  • v denotes final velocity
  • u denotes initial velocity
  • t denotes time

It is a vector quantity having both magnitude as well as direction.

It can be positive, negative or zero.

SI unit : m/s²

Conversion :

• 1 km/h = 5/18 m/s

• 40 km/h = 40 × 5/18 = 11.11 m/s

Time : 1 min = 60 s

➝ a = v - u / t

➝ a = 11.11 - 0 / 60

➝ a = 11.11/60

a = 0.18 m/s²
