Answer

Acceleration = 0.278 m/s²

Given

A train starting from rest and get a speed 30 km/hr in 30 second

To Find

Acceleration

Concept Used

1st equation of motion

v = u + at

Solution

Initial velocity , u = 0 m/s

∵ Starting from rest

Final velocity , v = 30 km/h = 8.34 m/s

Time , t = 30 s

Acceleration , a = ? m/s²

Apply 1st equation of motion ,

v = u + at

⇒ (8.34) = (0) + a(30)

⇒ 8.34 = 0 + 30a

⇒ 30a = 8.34

a = 0.278 m/s²

So , Acceleration = 0.278 m/s²

Acceleration = 0.277 m/

Data Provided:-

  • Initial velocity (u) = 0 m/s
  • Final velocity (v) = 30 km/h = 75/9 m/s
  • Time taken (t) = 30 seconds

We have to find the acceleration of the train in the observation.

We know,

a = (v - u)/t

where,

  • a = Acceleration,
  • v = Final velocity,
  • u = Initial velocity &
  • t = Time taken.

Thus,

a = v/t {Because Initial velocity = 0}

→ a = (75/9 m/s)/(30 s)

→ a = (8.33 m/s)/(30 s)

→ a = 0.2777... ≈ 0.277 m/s²
