A train starting from rest attains a velocity of 60km/hr in 20min. Assuming that acceleration is uniform. Find (i) acceleration (ii) the distance travelled by the train for attaining this velocity.

  • v= 60 km / h=60×5/18 = 16.67 m/s
  • t= 20min =20×60 =1200 sec
  • now v = u + at
  • a= v-u /t
  • a= 16.67-0/1200
  • a = 0.0138 m /s²
  • (2). as, s = ut +1/2 at²
  • s= o+1/2×0.0138×1200×1200
  • s= 9936 m
