Explanation:

Given train starts from rest so initial velocity

u=0

Time, t=5 min=5*60=300s

So velocity attaoned by the train =v=72km/hr

=72*1000/3600s=20m/s

By using the first equation of motion,that is

v=u+at

From this acceleration, a= v-u/t=20-0/300

=20/300=1/5m/s

Hence to find the distance travelled using the second equation of motion thatbis

s=ut+1/2at2

By Substituting the values we get

s=0*300+1/2*1/5*(300)2=3km=3000m
