A train starting from rest attains a velocity of 72 km/hr in 5 min. Assuming the acceleration is
uniform, find the
i) acceleration
ii) distance travelled by the train for attaining this velocity

acceleration = 1/15 m/s^2

distance = 3000m

Explanation:

Velocity of the train = 72km/hr or, 20m/s

Time taken = 5min = 300 sec

Acceleration :

= (v - u)/t

= (20 - 0)/300

= 20/300

= 1/15 m/s^2

Distance :-

=> s = ut + 1/2at^2

=> s = 0(300) + 1/2(1/15)(300)^2

=> s = 3000m
