Answer:

A train starting from rest attains a velocity of 72 km/h in 5 minutes.Assuming that the acceleration is uniform, find (i) the acceleration and (ii) thedistance travelled by the train for attaining this velocity. ... Distancecovered by first car before coming torest is equal to Are of traingle AOB.

Answer:

Given:-

Initial velocity (u) = 0

Final velocity (v) = 72km/hr = 20m/s

Time = 5sec

To find:-

(i) Accleration

By applying v - u = at

20 - 0 = a×5

20 = 5a

a = 20/5

= 4m/s^2.

(ii) Distance

By applying v^2-u^2 = 2as

400 - 0 = 2×4×s

400 = 8s

S = 400/8

= 50m.
