Answer:

Given:

Initial velocity = 0 m/s

Acceleration = 5 m/s²

Time of observation = 5 sec.

To find:

Final velocity after 5 sec.

Concept:

Since the acceleration is constant, we can easily apply equations of Kinematics to get final velocity.

Calculation :

v = u + (a \times t)

 =  > v = 0 + (5 \times 5)

 =  > v = 25 \: m {s}^{ - 1}

So final velocity = 25 m/s

Additional information:

  • Velocity is a vector Quantity while speed is a scalar Quantity
  • Speed is always positive
  • Velocity can be positive, zero, negative
  • Velocity is associated with displacement while the other is associated with distance.

Question :

A train starts from rest and accelerate uniformly at the rate of 5 m/s 2 for 5 sec. Calculate the velocity of train in 5 sec.

 \tt{\pink{---------}}

Solution :

We know that :

 \tt{ \purple { \leadsto{a \:  =  \dfrac{v - u}{t}  = 1 \: m. {s}^{ - 2} }}}

Hence

 \tt{\blue{\leadsto{v = u + at = 0 + 25 = 25 \: m.{s}^{-1} }}}...........(A)

Additional Information :

Velocity is a vector quantity .

Acceleration is also a vector quantity.

Other equations of Motion :

S = ut + 1/2 a {t}^2

V^2 = U^2 + 2as
