Answer:

The length of the train is 166.67 m

Explanation:

Speed of the train = 20 kmph = 20 × (5/18) = 100/18 m/s

time taken to pass a pole = 30 sec

It will be considered that the train has crossed the pole when the entire train has crossed the pole i.e. starting from front of the engine to the end of the last coach.

Therefore, the length of the train = distance travelled in the given time

                                                       = distance travelled in 30 seconds

                                                      = speed × time

                                                      = 100/18 × 30

                                                      = 166.67 m

Answer:

D = 166.67 meters

Explanation:

Given,

Speed of the train = 20 kmph

Time = 30 seconds,

Let's change it into meter per second,

(5 x 20)/18 = 5.56 m/s

Now the basic speed, distance, time formula,

S = (D/T)

D = S x T

D = 5.56 x 30

D = 166.67 meters

The speed, distance, time formula can then be reverted to gain the distance traveled, which in here is nothing but the length of the Train.
