A train travelling at a speed of 90 km per hour. Brakes are applied so as to produce a uniform acceleration of - 0.5 per second square. Find how far the train will go before it is brought to rest.

here v=0kmph
u=90kmph =90×1000m/60×60s =25m/s
a=-0.5persecond square
S=?
we know , V square =U square +2as
s=V square -U square /2a
s=(0) square -(25) square /2×-0.5
s=-625/-1
s=625 metre
Thus, the train will travel 625mtr before it it brought to rest.
