Let the speed of the car be x.

The speed of the train will be :

1.20x

The distance to be covered is 180km

The time to be taken by each is :

Car = 180/x

Train = 180/1.2x

The train takes a stop of 30 minutes and this makes them to reach their destination at the same time.

This can be written as :

180/x = 180/1.20x + 30/60

180/x = 180/1.2x + 0.5

180 = 180/1.2 + 0.5x

180 = 150 + 0.5x

30 = 0.5x

x = 30/0.5

x = 60km/h

The speed of the train is :

1.20 × 60 = 72km/h

Let car travel at x km/hr and so train travel at 1.2x km/hr so time taken by train is (180/1.2x)+1/2=180/x or 150/x+1/2=180/X or 180–150/x=1/2 or x=60. So train speed is 1.2*60=72 km/hr
