Step-by-step explanation:

GIVEN:

distance covered by train = 290 km

time taken by train = 4 hours

distance covered by car = 180 km

time taken by car = 3 hours

TO FIND: ratio of distance traveled by train and car in one hour

solution:

we can use average speed to find ratio because of time being the same in both , i.e. 1 hour

if we find the average speed of train and car, we can then divide the figure to find the ratio we need.

average speed of train  = 290 km/4 hour

                                       = 72.5 km per hour

average speed of car    = 180 km /3hour

                                       = 60km per hour

now we put the average speed in ratios so we ultimately get the ratios of distance traveled by train and car in one hour.

the answer is 72.5/60 = 1.208 or 29/24
