A train travels 360km at a uniform speed.If the speed had been 5km/h more,it would have taken 1 hour less for the same journey.Find the speed of the train.

1st case:

speed=let it be 'x' km/h

distance =360 km

time=360/x hours

2nd case:

speed=x+5 km/h

distance=the train travels the same distance so distance is 360 km

time=360/(x+5) hours

according to the question :-

360/x  -  360/(x+5) = 1

solving the above equation you will get the value of x as 40 and -45

-45 is not possible as speed is not possible .

speed of the train=40 km/h
