Answer:

let the speed of the train is x km/ h

so, time taken to travel the distance 360 km is

360/x hours

if the speed is (x+5) km/h then time taken

360/(x+5) hours

according to question,

360/x=360/(x+5)+1

=> 360/x-360/(x+5)=1

=> 360[1/x-1/(x+5)]=1

=> 360[x+5-x)=x(x+5)

=> x(x+5)=360×5

=> x^2+5x-1800=0

=> x^2+45x-40x-1800=0

=> x(x+45)-40(x+45)=0

=> (x+45)(x-40)=0

xmust not be negative

so, x-40=0

=> x=40

so the speed of the train is 40 km/h
