A train travels at a speed of 40km/h for 0.2 hrs, 50 km/h for the next 0.2 hrs and 60 km/h for the next 0.4 hrs. Calculate the average speed of the train.....

so to calculate average speed first we have to find total distance travelled by train. So  by speed = distance / time formula

distance (S1 = 8 km)   ,  (S2 = 10 km)   ,     (S3 = 12  km)

NOW  AVERAGE SPEED =   TOTAL DISTANCE / TIME

SO    8 + 10 + 12 / 0.2 + 0.2 + 0.2   i.e    30 / 0.6 = 50km /hr

so your anwer is 50 km/hr.
