Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

A train travels at an average speed of 30 m/s.

To find :-

a) Express its average speed in km/h

b) Find the time taken by the train to travel 750 km.

c) If the train sets off at 09: 00 find the arrival time of the train to reach a station 36 km away.

Solution :-

Given that:

a)

The average of speed of the train = 30 m/s

We know that

1 km = 1000 m

1 hour = 60 minutes

1 minute = 60 seconds

1 hour = 3600 seconds

30 m/s = 30× 3600/1000 km/hr

=> 30 m/s = 108000/1000 km /hr

=> 30 m/s = 108 km / hr

30 m / s = 108 km / hr

b)

The distance travel by the train = 750 km

We have , The speed of the train = 108 km /hr

We know that

Distance = Speed × Time

=> Time = Distance / Speed

=> Time = 750 / 108

=> Time = 125/18

=> Time = 6 17/18 hours

The time taken by the train to travel 750 km is

6 17/18 hours or 6.9 hours

c)

The distance travel by the train = 36 km

The speed of the train = 108 km / hr

We know that

Distance = Speed × Time

=> Time = Distance / Speed

=> Time = 36/108

=> Time = 1/3 hours

=> Time = 60/3 minutes

=>Time = 20 minutes

Time taken by the train to reach the station of 36 km is 20 minutes

If the time set off at 09:00 then it will reach the station at 09:20

Answer:-

a) 30 m/s = 108 km /hr

b)The time taken by the train to travel 750 km is

6 17/18 hours or 6.9 hours

c) If the time set off at 09:00 then it will reach the station at 09:20

Used formulae:-

  • Distance = Speed × Time
