Solution:

Distance between A B = 108 Kms.

Time taken = 45 mins = 45/60 = 3/4 Hrs = 0.75 Hrs.

So the speed of the train = 108/3/4 = 108 x 4/3 = 144 Kms / Hr.

The distance between A C wiil be = Speed x Time

= 144 x 40/60 = 144 X 2/3 = 96 Kms.

Since the distance between A B is 108 Kms the distance between A C is 96 Kms, then the distance between B C = 108 - 96 = 12 Kms.

Ans: 12 Kms.

OR

We can solve the problem in a different way:

Distance between A B = 108 Kms.

Time taken = 45 mins = 45/60 = 3/4 Hrs = 0.75 Hrs.

So the speed of the train = 108/3/4 = 108 x 4/3 = 144 Kms / Hr.

Time taken to travel from A to B = 45 mins.

Time taken to travel from A to C = 40 mins.

So the train travels from C to B in 45 - 40 = 5 mins.

So the distance travelled by the train in 5 mins = Speed X Time = 144 x 5/60 = 12 Kms.

Ans: 12 Kms.

Answer:
