A train travels some distance with a speed of 30kmph and returns with a speed of 45kmph. Calculate the average speed of the train.

So it covers 30 km. On the return journey it travels at 50 kmph so it takes 30*60/50 = 36 min or 0.6 hours. Average speed = Total distance covered, both ways/ Total time taken, both ways. = 37.5 kmph.
