A train travels with a speed of 60 km h-1 from
station A to station B and then comes back with a
speed 80 km h- from station B to station A. Find :
(i) the average speed, and (ii) the average velocity
of train.

See the average speed will be average distance divided by time.

But in this case we have not been given time so we assume it 1 hr.

so

average speed = 60 + 80 /2= 140/2 = 7 kmph ;

and we know that average velocity is displacement per unit time and here displacement is 0( since it returns to it original position that is A)

average velocity = 0
