Average speed = Total distance/Total time

Average velocity = Total displacement/Total time

Let the distance between the two stations be S then,

Total dist = 2S

Total time = Time from A to B + Time from B to A

                  = Distance/Speed + Distance/Speed

                  = S/60 + S/80 = (8S+6S)/480 = 14S/480 = 7S/240

Total displacement = 0km (Initial and Final position of train is A)

Therefore,

Average speed = Total distance/Total time = 2S/(7S/240) = 480/7 km/h

Average velocity = Total displacement/Total time = 0km/h
