Answer:

Time Taken = 10s

Distance Travelled = 100m

Explanation:

Given -

u = 72km/h = 20m/s

a = -2m/s^2

v = 0 ( As the train comes to rest )

Acceleration = Change in Velociy/Time

=> a = v-u/T

=> -2 = 0 - 20/T

=> -2 = -20/T

=> T = -20/-2 = 10s

Hence the time taken is 10s

v^2 - u^2 = 2as (Formula)

=> 0^2 - (20)^2 = 2 × (-2) × s

=> -400 = -4 × s

=> s = -400/-4 = 100m

Hence the distance travelled before coming to rest is 100m
