A train weighting 1000 ton is moving on a horizontal track with a uniform velocity of 10m/s the total resistance to the motion of the train is 5 kgf per ton. If g=10 m/s^2 then calculate the power of the engine.

We know that ,

F = m*g

= 5*1000*10

= 50,000 N

= 50 KN

We also know that ,

P = F*V

= 50* 10

= 500 KW

Hence power of engine is 500KW
