A train which is 168 m long and at a speed of 120km/h will take how much time to cross a platform which is 2 km far away? ​

a) if it covers 120 km in 1 hour, it means that it covers 60 times less in 1 minute. 120/60 = 2. So its velocity is 2 km per minute. OK?

b) 2 km per minute, so how many minutes for 960 km? Well, that's easy. 960/2 = 480. It will take 480 minutes for these 960 km.

c) how many hours are 480 minutes ? 480/60 = 8. This means the train will do those 960 km in 8 hours. If you want to verify, let's do the reverse calculation : 8 hours at 120 km/h : 8x120 = 960. Ohhh… yes, it's correct. See? It wasn't that complicated…
