Average speed= 2V1.V2/V1+V2

Our 1st objective is to find V1

V1=162/18
V1=9m/s

now,V2

V2=120/15
V2=8m/s

putting the values in the formula of avg speed(u):-
u=2(9)(8)/9+8

u=144/17
u=8.47m/s

distance by train = 162 - 120
= 42 metres
time taken by train = 18-15
=3 seconds
speed = d/t
= 42/3
=14m/s
