A transformer is supplied with a p.d. of 230 V. This is stepped up to 2300 V. If the input current was 1 A, what is the output current?

Assuming the transformer to be 100% efficient

Power input = Power output

P = i V

1 × 230 = 2300 × i

I = 0.1 A
