We know that the formulae of vapor density = molecular mass/2.

As, the chloride has a vapour density of 94.8.  

Hence, the molecular mass will be = v.d *2 = 189.6g.

From the question we know that 74.75% is chloride.

Hence, 74.75/100 * 189.6 = 141.72 g of chloride is there.

Then the number of atoms of chloride will be 141.72/35.5 =3.99 which is approximately 4.  

Therefore we know that the formula of the metal chloride will be MCl4.
