Given that the metal has a configuration of [Ar]3d⁵ in its +3 oxidation state.

It gives us a clue that 3 electrons have been removed from the transition metal.

If we keep the 3 electrons which were removed, we get the configuration as [Ar]4s² 3d⁶

Therefore, clearly the element is 'Iron' with atomic number 26.

3d5 hence it's atomic no is 25 ie electron
but it has +3 oxidation state so there are in all 25+3 protons=28 but e were removed from 4s orbital hence 28-2=26
answer is 26

siril: [Ar] doesn't have 4s subshell
