A tree 12m high is broken by the wind in such a way that its top touches the ground and makes an angle of 60 degree with the ground.At what height from the bottom the tree is broken by the wind

 Let the height from the bottom where the tree is broken be ‘h’ m Hence AC = (12 – h) m In right triangle ABC sin 60° = (AB)/(AC)(√3/2 )= h/(12 – h) 12√3 – √3h = 2h √3h + 2h = 12√3 h(√3 + 2) = 12√3 Therefore, h = 12√3/ (√3 + 2)  m
