A tree 25 m tall is broken at a height of 8 m from the ground and its top touches

the ground. Find the distance of the point where the top touches the ground
from the base of the tree​

we know,

base^2+height^2=hypotenuse^2

=> base^2+8^2=17^2

=> base^2=17^2-8^2

=> base^2=(17+8)(17-8)

=> base^2=25×9

=> base=√(25×9)

=> base=5×3

=> base=15

so the distance of the point where the top touches the ground from the base of the tree is 15 m
