Let the tree be AC and and is broken at B. The broken part touches at the point D on the ground. In right ΔBCD,
cos 30°=CD/BD
√3/2=8/BD
BD=16/√3
tan 30°=BC/CD
1/√3=BC/8
BC=8/√3
Height of tree=BC+BD
=8/√3+16/√3
=8+16/√3
=24×√3/√3×√3
=24/3×√3
Hence the height of the tree=8√3m.
