Given :

  • A tree breaks due to strom and the broken part bends so that the top touches the ground making an angle 60 degree with it the distance between the foot of the tree to the point where the top touches the ground is 10 m.

To Find :

  • Height of the tree = ?

Solution :

❏ Let AC be the broken part of the tree.

❏ Where, ∠C = 60°

❏ BC = 10 m

❏ Total height of the tree = AB + AC

Now In ∆ABC,

→ Cos 60° = BC/AC

→ 1/2 = 10/AC

AC = 20 m

Also,

→ tan 60° = AB/10

→ √3 = AB/10

AB = 10√3 m

Finding total height of the tree :

→ AB + BC

→ 10√3 + 20

Taking √3 value as 1.73

→ 10 × 1.73 + 20

→ 17.3 + 20

37.3 m

Total height of the tree is 37.3 m.
