Answer is 3m.

Step-by-step explanation:

After breaking a right angled triangle is formed whose hypotenuse is 5m and perpendicular is 4m.

So the base is

 \sqrt{5 {}^{2}  + 4 { }^{2} }  = 3

By Pythagoras theorem,

(AB)^2+(BC)^2=(AC)^2.

(4)^2+(BC)^2=(5)^2.

(BC)^2=25-16.

BC=√9=3m.

Thus the answer is 3m.
