A tree is broken at the height of 7m from the ground and its top touches the ground at a distance of 24m from the base of tree. Find the original height of the tree.

let the broken part of tree be xthen total height of tree=7+x

since it form a right angled triangle with base 24m and height 7m and hypotenuse be xthen by using Pythagoras theorem (hypotenuse)^2=(base)^2+(height)^2x^2=24^2+7^2x^2=576+49x^2=625x=25

therefore height of tree =x+7=25+7=31
