Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let height at which the tree breaks= h

Let the broken length=b

Let width of road=w

Here l+b=36

The tree at its broken stage forms a right angle triangle

Using Pythagoras theorem

h²+w²=b²

h²+w²=(36-h)²

h²+12²=36²+h²-2*h*36

12²-36²=-2*36*h

(12+36)(12-36)=-72h

(48)(-24)=-72h

48*24/72=h

48*1/3=h

16=h
