A tree stands vertically just on the bank of a river. The angle of elevation of the top of the tree from a point exactly opposite to the tree on the other bank of river is 60. The angle of elevation of the top of the tree 40 m away from that point is 30 . Find the width of the river and the height of the tree

Step-by-step explanation:

let the height of tree is h and point is x meter away from tree

then

tan 60°=h/x

⇒√3=h/x

⇒h=x√3

from another point which is 20m behind this point

tan 30°=h/(x+20)

⇒1/√3=h/(x+20)

⇒h√3=x+20
