A tree was broken due to storm. Its broken upper part was so inclined that its top touched the ground making an angle of 60degree's with the ground. The distance from the foot of the tree and the point where the top touched the ground was 10metre. What was the height of the tree.

As tree make angle of 60 degree with ground or you can say horizontal...and the distance between point of contact and foot of tree is 10 metre then ,here you should use application of trigonometry..

Cos 60= distance between point of contact / hypotenuse .

( Cos 60= 1/2)

So,

1/2 = 10/X

( Let hypotenuse be ' x')

Cross multiplication and you will get

X= 20

So height of the tree is = height of hypotenuse+ height of foot

= 20+10

= 30 metre.
