let the height of the tree at the time of planting it be x cms.
So height of the tree after 1 year is x + 10% of x
= 1.1x
So height of the tree after 2nd year is 1.1x + 10% of 1.1x
= 1.1x + 0.1*1.1x
= 1.21x
But it is said that height of the tree after 2 yrs is 242cm
1.21x = 242cm
x = 242/1.21
x =200cms
