we get

area of triangle=12×base×height

therefore 5=1/2×(x+3).x

ie 10=x square+3x

so x square+3x-10=0

ie x square+5x-2x-10=0

ie x(x+5)-2(x+5)=0

ie (x+5)(x-2)=0

so x=-5 or x=2

now since dimension length of any geometric figure is never negative

x=-5 is absurd

thus x=2

substitute value of x in missing terms

you get base=5 cm and height=2 cm
