A triangle and a parallelogram are on the same base and between the same parallels. If the sides of the triangle are 13 cm, 14 cm, 15 cm long respectively and the parallelogram stands on the base of length 14 cm, then the height of the parallelogram is?

The area of a triangle is given by the formula  AT=12bh , where  b  is the length of the base and  h  is the height. The area of the parallelogram is  AP=bh , with the same variables. The problem states that the triangle and parallelogram have the same base, and since they are bounded vertically by the same parallel lines, they must have the same height. Therefore  b  and  h  are the same for the two figures, so
