A triangle and a parallelogram have the same base and the same area. Ifthe sides of the triangle are 26 cm, 28 cm and 30 cm, and the parallelogram stands on the base 28 cm, find the height of the parallelogram.

Lets find area of triangle using hero formula

a = 26 cm b = 28 cm c = 30 cm

s = (a + b + c)/2 = (26 + 28 + 30)/2 = 42

Area = √s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)

= √42(42-26)(42-28)(42-30)

= √42 * 16 * 14 * 12

= √7  * 6 * 4 * 4 * 7 * 2 * 2 * 6

= 7 * 6 * 4 * 2

= 336 cm²

Area of Parallelogram = Base * Height

=> 28 * height = 336

=> height = 12 cm

height of the parallelogram = 12 cm
